Rainwater is a source of “free” water, and 0.623 gallons of rainwater falls
to the ground (or onto your roof) per square foot of surface area, per one inch
of rain. For harvesting, 0.55 gallons per square foot, per inch is used to
account for losses due to evaporation and spillage. It is one of the easiest and
most straightforward ways to conserve water available to homeowners. It is
particularly well suited in areas where summer water restrictions are common or
where water is expensive.
Rainwater harvesting offers significant economic and environmental
advantages! Only one percent of the water we use every day is used for
personal consumption. The rest is used to clean, flush toilets, shower, water
the lawn, irrigate gardens, wash cars, fill swimming pools, do laundry and
complete other household chores. For this reason, rainwater harvesting is
practical and offers significant ecological and economic advantages!
Rainwater harvesting advantages: • Reduces water consumption • Cuts
costs • Preserves groundwater supplies • Counters rising costs for water
and sewage • Relieves strain on sewer networks because rain is retained for
later use
A 3,000 square foot roof (50' x 60') for example, will potentially harvest
825 gallons of water during a rainstorm, equal to 1/2 inch of rain. This is
soft, usable water! Our Rainwater Harvesting Systems A 3,000 square foot
roof (50' x 60') for example, will potentially harvest 825 gallons of water
during a rainstorm, equal to one-half inch of rain. This is soft, usable water!
Tank size selection typically depends on local rainfall, the potential
collection surface area and rainwater requirements. We offer a wide range of
tank models for in-ground or on-ground installation, with capacities ranging
from 343 U.S. gallons (1,300 liters) to 1,700 U.S. gallons (6,500 liters).
While these systems are most commonly used for landscaping irrigation, they
can also be configured to supply gray water to flush toilets (3rd largest user
of water in homes), and even for potable systems when combined with extensive
filtration systems. The information following is meant for landscaping
irrigation. Gray water and potable systems can be custom engineered using many
of these same components. If you would like to discuss gray water or potable
systems, please contact our tech service department via the “contact us”
tab. The systems we are offering were selected because they are from the
leading manufacturer in Europe where this type of conservation is way ahead of
the US, they are easy to install and use, and they are a great value (quality
and price). We are offering three different systems based on tank types. Any
of these systems can be paired with any number of other tanks to increase
capacity.

The Carat Tank System consists of a 1,700 gallon (6,500 l) storage tank
for Rainwater Catchment that is placed In-ground and an adjustable dome to
insure flexibility on tank depth. The tanks are manufactured in two sections for
easy handling. (No crane required.) They are easily assembled on-site using a
patented, quick connect system. The tanks are made from durable Duralen high
impact plastic. Each section weighs 243 lbs. (485 lbs. when assembled). They are
86 in. wide, 107 in. high, and they come with a fifteen year warranty. They
feature an adjustable mini dome (included) to ensure lid is flush with ground.
These tanks can be paired with any number of other tanks to increase
capacity. . Specifications Type Atmospheric (not under
pressure). Use In-ground installation. Capacity 1,700 U.S. Gallons
(6,500 L). Dimensions & weight Length: 94.1" (2,390L) Width: 86.2"
(2,190 mm) Height: 106.7" (2,710 mm) Weight: 485 lbs. (220 kg) Earth
covering: 31.5 - 47.2" Construction Carat tanks are made from Duralen®, an
extremely rigid, high impact resistant material. Tanks are manufactured in
two sections using an injection compression molding process. They are
stackable for shipping and handling advantages. Limited warranty Carat
tanks come with a 15 year limited warranty 3 types of filters and 3
types of pumping systems are available for the CARAT system:
CARAT TANK FILTER OPTIONS
Carat Tank
w/Automatic Filter AF-CARAT-Filter An Automatic Internal Filter for 1,700
Gallon Carat Tank that does not require cleaning as it expels leaves and other
debris through a discharge line.
Carat
Tank w/Manual Filter and Removable Basket MF-CARAT-Filter A Manual
Internal Filter for 1,700 Gallon Carat Tank that does not use a easy removable
filter basket for cleaning and does not have a discharge line to expel leaves
and other debris.
 POTFILTER The
Potfilter is a high capacity external filter for all of our in-ground
installations. It is typically placed into the ground beneath downspouts to
remove debris before the water travels through 4” plastic drain pipe to the
tanks. It is easy cleaned, easy to install, versatile, and economical.
CARAT TANK PUMPING OPTIONS

ECORAIN PUMPING STATION
This pumping system automatically delivers pressurized water to
landscaping and/or household gray water systems. The EcoRain features an
automatic change-over from stored rainwater to the normal potable water system
when the rainwater tank is empty. It also has a built-in pressure tank and back
flow prevention system as required by plumbing codes when a rainwater system is
connected to a potable water system. Specifications: 1 HP, 110 volt jet
pump with a backflow preventer and automatic controller. 25 gpm at 52 psi and a
1 in. pipe connection outlet.
 ECOJET PUMP
Is a self-contained 1 HP, 110 volt pump It has a built-in pressure tank
and will automatically shut off when the rainwater tank is
empty. Specifications: 1 HP, 110 volt jet pump and a 1 in. pipe connection
outlet. 25 gpm at 52 psi

ECODIVER SUBMERSIBLE PUMP
Is a Submersible Pump that is designed to be lowered into the
tank. It features Dry Run Protection (it will automatically shut off when the
tank is empty) and a long Power Cord. Specifications: 1.2 HP, 110 volt
submersible pump with dry run protection, a 45 ft. electrical cord, and a 1 in.
pipe connection outlet. 25 gpm at 52 psi SUCTION
