THE
IMPORTANCE OF PRODUCT CERTIFICATION
In
the last decade, interest in home water treatment products has grown
tremendously. Unfortunately, it isn’t always easy for you the consumer to know
whether or not a particular product will actually be as safe and effective as it
claims when reducing various contaminants from your drinking supply.
In
order to assist you the consumer, a set of national public health standards were
developed by ANSI (American National Standards Institute) in order to establish
minimum requirements for these water treatment devices to meet. Products that
meet these strict standards will be certified by NSF International, or
WQA and will bear either of their two seals.
NSF a third
party, not-for profit organization, has a long history of developing and running
independent product testing and certification programs. WQA is a not-for-profit
organization providing educational and product certification.
Both certifiers test to the same ANSI standards and have state
of-the-art laboratories. Their highly skilled staff have the knowledge and
expertise to effectively evaluate water treatment products.
